This song is lyrically based on the halcyon kingfisher myth. A mythical bird said by ancient writers to breed in a nest floating at sea at the winter solstice, charming the wind and waves into calmness. Halcyon means “kingfisher” in Greek, and the phrase is founded on a charming myth, involving the marriage of Alcyone – daughter of Aeolus, the god of winds – and Ceyx, son of the morning star...
